::: S : O : S :::

In Sunday School, we were taught about being prepared for an emergency. Our teacher had some useful information, but he started out using scare tactics. Kind of funny, but apparantly it worked because during dinner, I brought it up with the fam and we decided to prepare "every needful thing." The LDS church website is obviously the best place to start. They have all the guidelines and resources you need. As a family, we are going to try to do a little bit every week to better prepare ourselves. If you have any suggestions, let me know! I'll be keeping you updated...and if the flood comes, don't say I didn't warn you.

Scrumtrulescent

When it comes to cooking, I am my own worst critic. Ask anyone who knows me. It isn't very often when a dish I prepare turns out as delicious as I imagine in my head. Tonight was an exception and everything turned out surprisingly great. Although... the asparagus was undercooked. What did I tell you...I can't even post this without critizing. I even tried to stay on the healthy side and got the recipes from cookinglight.com. The main dish was Baked Ziti with a Basic Marinara. The marinara sauce was ridiculous. I could (and did) eat this on its own by the spoon full. I also tried a twist with the asparagus. Usually, I either cook it on the grill (if it's warm outside) or I saute them up and add a bit of seasoning. But I found this recipe which calls for limes (one of my favorites) and decided to try it out. My mom even liked it and she is not fond of Asparagus. The grand finale was a carrot cake. Again, I got the recipe through cookinglight.com and was surprised to find it uses baby food in place of more oil. Interesting, but I thought it might be good. It doesn't hurt to try, right? I don't mean to brag, but this was the best carrot cake I've ever tasted...just ask my mom! I will definitely be making all three recipes again. Yum!

She and Him

It should come as no surprise that I've got another favorite album to add to my never ending list. You've probably heard of it, but it's called 'She and Him: Volume One' and I'm a fan. A while ago, I heard 'she and him' (M. Ward and Zooey Deschanel) were working on an album together, but I didn't know when it was coming out. Well, it's out and I really kind of love it. Hope you do too.

Baby Pasta's Shower

Trina is expecting little Isabella in a couple months, so the we all got together for a baby shower. Since our friend Wendy had a baby, we've kept a tradition of giving childrens books and making a quilt. We ended up having enough fabric for two quilts, which were pink and brown of course... totally Trina! We can't wait to meet baby Pasta. Congrats, Trina!

Music is my boyfriend

If I never have a real one, music is a pretty good substitute.

Sydney

Last fall, I had the sudden desire to become a dog owner. A beagle being my dog of choice. I've heard girl beagles tend to be a little more well behaved, so I figured that'd be the way to go. I also decided Sydney is a good beagle name, but I'd have to see her to be sure. I still haven't made the plunge, but I really want her.

Seriously?

It's almost been a year since I've done anything on here. I don't even know what I've done for the year. I seriously don't. Just more of the same. Everyone else does stuff. Melissa went to Arizona for Dental School. Andy just moved to Cali for Med School. My brother Scott got hitched to Rachael (best sister-in-law ever). The other Melissa is going to have a baby...and so is Gina. As for me, I lost my job and bought a TV. Rock on 2007.

Check me out

They're at it again.

And I thought it couldn't get any better than their last one.

I'm in love...with boggle. If any of you can beat my high score of 116, let me know. Careful, it's mega addicting. But probably only if you're a nerd like me.

Summertime

I love this time of year! BBQ's (I bought a grill!), biking, hiking, hammocks, boating (I heart Lake Powell!), and FIREWORKS! Which brings me to the 4th of July. The day started out on a hot air balloon with my chum Gina. Oh, and my new BFF Bruce. There is no other way to fly (sorry Scott). It's amazing to be suspended in air in complete silence. We went up uber high, but then hovered around close to the ground, close enough to grab leaves off the trees. I highly recommend a ride before you die. It's top notch. Other festivities included (but were not limited to) the parade, lunch with the Dallins/Smoots, an attempt at boating that was foiled by the pesky weather, and to top it all of, I went to the culdesac of fire at Stone Gate. Illegal fireworks are the only way to go. Happy Independence Day indeed.

Tooth fairy

So, I had my first caveties filled today. Three of them, to be exact. All I want to know is why they haven't invented a better tool than the drill. I understand the necessity for drilling, but does it have to make that noise? The pain felt was the equivalent of stubbing a toe, but it sounds like a torcher chamber. Seriously?!? What is the point of technology people???

Get thee to a nunnery

My birthday has come and gone. I'm 25. And in my old age, I've started to reflect on what I've learned in my life. Long ago, a wise old man, after discovering my age (21) and situation (single and alone), said to me, "Get thee to a nunnery." I should have listened to his words then, but it's not too late. I've packed my bags for the morning train. Off to the nunnery I go.

Seriously though, my birthday was perfect. I got to see and talk to all the people I care about, mostly while eating large quantities of scrumtrulescent food. Who could ask for anything more?

One more day and my life is over.

You heard me. Only one day and it's here. The day I've been dreading is coming and there's nothing I can do to stop it. It's like the ginormous boulder on Indiana Jones, but with no way of escaping. It's going to run me over and kill my face. What is this horrendous catastrophe looming on the horizon, you wonder? Well, it's my birthday on Tuesday. Usually, this is a joyous occasion and cause for a major celebration...or ten. Not this time. I'm turning 25 and I might as well be dead. Not only will I have to check the "25-30" age box on forms, but with this age comes the hideous label... old maid.

The latest...

I started this blog about a year ago. As you can see by the lack of posts, it obviously didn't take. Hopefully, my second attempt will be more of a success.
